lisnoire wrote: Fushigi Yugi – Classic. On a scale of one to ten, a ten. Granted, its a “magic girl” transported to an alternate universe but it is the one by which all others are measured. The first few episodes are a little “fluffy” but it gets deeper and richer as it goes on. And it does go on. Not quite as long as Rouni Kenshin, but there’s a lot of it. Like a good book, you really don’t want to get to the last chapter. You may even find yourself thinking about some of the characters between viewings. Engaging characters, beautiful animation, good story telling, and a lot of romance. For a series with seven kick-ass warriors, it’s a little short on fight scenes but there are some good ones. There is a follow up OVA that fails to reach the same level of excellence as the series. Still, it is worthwhile as it probes into the background of some of the warriors who originally didn’t get as much attention. It’s a bit sexier than the TV series too.
